Marco
Beria
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
A graduate of the National
School of Theater of Venezuela, Marco Beria has performed as an actor
with several Venezuelan theater groups. In the U.S, he obtained a B.A.
in Film Production from Hunter College and thereafter worked as a producer
for The Children's Television Workshop. He has also produced and directed
numerous films, videos and theater projects in New York City.
For
the past ten years, Mr. Beria has concentrated primarily in the development
and instruction of theater, video and visual arts programs for both non-profit
organizations and public schools. In this area, his most recent work was
as a program developer for NYU's Metro Center for Urban Education in Theater
Arts and as a consultant in the Education Department of The New Jersey
Performing Arts Center. Currently, he works as an Art Programs Coordinator
for Newark Preschool Council Inc.
Mr.
Beria began painting at an early age and has had a number of group and
individual exhibitions in New York City, New Jersey and Madrid.

Metamorphosis
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Beria's
paintings are immediately striking for their use of vibrant and contrasting
colors, which evoke the works of the Fauvist and Purist artists of the
early 20th century. Thematically, his work employs a subtle surrealistic
vision. This is particularly apparent in his still life panel paintings,
where themes of nature and metamorphosis predominate. His paintings are
also remarkable for the cleanliness of their brush work and their minimalist
composition. In his latest works, Beria has begun exploring a more abstract
approach, while retaining his use of a strong yet harmonious palette.
